Revealing the Hidden Cost of Super Trawlers: Jobs vs. Ecosystem Collapse | OPERATION OCEAN KILLERS

The super trawling industry may provide jobs and a boost to the economy, but at what cost?

We've seen fisheries collapse all over the world - the Northern cod fishery in 1992, the orange roughy fishery in the 1990s. They didn't recover. Every single commercial fishery right now is in a state of economic collapse, and the only reason fishing continues is due to massive government subsidies. The EU is an enormous provider of subsidies for commercial fishing, and they couldn't exist otherwise.

Super trawlers, with their 100-million dollar ships, 100-mile long lines, 100-mile gill nets, using satellites to track fish, sonar devices and everything else, are not sustainable. Now they're going after smaller fishes like herring and mackerel, undermining the entire food pyramid within our world's oceanic ecosystems.

We're not just fighting for fish; we're fighting for the future of our planet. Let's rethink our relationship with the ocean before it's too late.
