Pu'uhonua is the City of Refuge on Hawaii Island (Moku o Keawe). It is a place of peace, healing, and forgiveness. The Pu'uhonua protected the kapu breaker, defeated warriors, as well as civilians during the time of battle. No physical harm could come to those who reached the boundaries of the Pu'uhonua. Though this is a physical place within the world, it also represents a place within all of us that we must return to.
