At least 30 people have been killed after heavy rainfall led to the collapse of Sudan's Arbaat dam in the eastern Red Sea province on Sunday. The collapse resulted in severe flooding that affected nearby homes and caused damage to at least 20 villages. As per the local media reports, dozens of people are still missing, while some reports suggest the death toll could be much higher, at around 60. While flooding takes place annually in Sudan, the impact is expected to be worse this year amid the ongoing civil war. The brutal fighting has pushed millions of displaced people into flood zones.
