In March 1976 and March 1977, I led the first two Greenpeace campaigns to defend harp seals off the coast of Labrador. In June 1977, I quit Greenpeace and founded the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society and returned to defend seals again in 1979 with my first ship the "Sea Shepherd".
