Luis J. Rodriguez is an award-winning writer as well as a community & urban peace activist, healer, youth & arts advocate, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. For 40 years, Luis J. Rodriguez has gone to prisons, juvenile lockups, and jails to facilitate writing workshops, poetry readings, talks, and healing circles. He has traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America, South America, Japan, and Europe. Luis has 16 books in all genres, including the best-selling memoir, Always Running, La Vida Loca, Gang Days in L.A. His latest book is From Our Land to Our Land: Essays, Journeys & Imaginings from a Native Xicanx Writer. Luis is founding editor of Tia Chucha Press and co-founder of Tia Chucha's Centro Cultural & Bookstore in the San Fernando Valley. From 2014-2016, Luis served as Los Angeles’ official Poet Laureate.
