Food Anthropology Course: Food and Economics

Our 10-week curriculum was inspired by a college course taken by one of our volunteers, but has been restructured and improved for a younger audience.

Food Anthropology is a broad discipline that seeks to better understand the human species in terms of culture, behavior, and biology through food. We hope to get your children thinking about the many ways food influences our lives, including food traditions around the world, ethical and nutritious eating habits, as well as the relationship between food and gender, economics, and power.

Age Group: 6+ with adult supervision

Food And Economics: What is a Banana Republic? No, we are not talking about the clothes store. Students will explore how food influences the economy of cities, countries, and entire nations.

Cultured Kids Cuisine is a non-profit organization whose mission is to educate children about culture through food and cooking. Our organization provides resources (i.e. online & in-person classes, educational blog posts, recipe + lesson kits) for children around the world to participate in activities designed to teach culture while engaging in a fun, recreational pursuit.
