Eyes on Contemporary Art: Collection/Deconstruction

January 6 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm EST

This monthly, video-watch-party series, aims to introduce art teachers to contemporary artists and how they might be used in the classroom.

We will hear from the artists themselves, discuss their connections, consider how to introduce and use contemporary art in age-appropriate ways (K-12) and expand possibilities for art-making.

In this session, Collection/Deconstruction, we will view work by Adam Milner and Damián Ortega. We will focus on big questions like:

  • How do objects hold memories?
  • How do organization systems create meaning?

Eyes on Contemporary Art is led by Marita Fitzpatrick, a high school art teacher from the School District of Philadelphia, and Marie Elcin, a middle school art teacher and teaching artist from Fleisher Art Memorial in Philadelphia.

Participants will receive a link to join prior to the event and will receive 1 hour of Act 48 credit for attending the event.
