Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Award-winning bilingual writer/producer, Charo Toledo has nearly two decades of experience in the entertainment industry working on a variety of projects for film, television and theater. While pursuing her career as a writer, Toledo also worked for the DEA for five years as a linguist and intelligence analyst. Charo Toledo has worked in the general market and Latino market both in scripted and non-scripted shows. From 2018-2019, she was a consulting producer for Facebook’s Confetti Mexico, a live trivia game show for Mexico. Confetti Mexico was the number one show on Facebook Watch with more than 7.4Million followers and 800K players daily. In 2017, Toledo produced the mega hit Univision show La Reina de la Canción, whose ratings beat Dancing with the Stars and The Voice on its premiere. In 2015-16, Toledo was the consulting producer for NBC Universo’s El Vato, an International Emmy winner. This global hit can now be seen on Netflix.
Toledo was a writer/producer of the highly acclaimed Hulu hit series, East Los High. Toledo received a 2015 Sentinel Award, Impact Award and five Emmy Award nominations for her work on the series. Her film credits include co-writing/co-producing the romantic musical comedy, Pop Star, and the outrageous East Side Story. This independent production was a festival favorite, receiving more than ten awards. In 2009, she received a GLAAD Award for her work on East Side Story. Toledo’s one-hour original thriller, Ghost on The Line has been optioned by Olive Branch Media, Untitled Entertainment packaging with Jackie Cruz (Orange is the New Black) attached. Ghost on the Line was inspired by Charo’s experiences as an intelligence analyst at the DEA.
